To All PJ Members,

Australian Team to USA Sept 2008

The NRAA recently named its team to compete the America match in Raton, New Mexico USA during September 2008. The team announced is

George Wittork (Capt), Rod Bickell (Manager), Bill Baker (Coach), Jan Dyer (Coach) Reg Rowlands (Coach)

Shooters : Angus Bell, Ron Whalen, Mark Buchanan, Bob Dyer, Rod Prayle, Mark Thurtell, Peter Thurtell, Kim O’Loghlen, Helen Griffiths, David Rich

Reserves : Brian Patsky, Ian Griffiths, Owen Henry, Andrew Martin

Pirates would be very pleased to see our own Captain in the team as well as Ron Whalen (assoc).

PJRC Fish Award 2006-2007 (“On This Day Should Have Gone Fishing”)

Well our own Captain took out this prestigious award for 2006/2007 after some sound competition from members, having his foresight fall off at 1000 yards in a major competition always helps.

The 2007/2008 competition is now well underway but can anyone beat the terrific “FISH AWARD” standard set by Rick Ashton with 10 nominations already as follows :

Canberra Queens Nov 2007 (6 nominations)

* Lead Up – 1st Range = leaves shooting glasses in Sydney, the doesn’t put his rear sight on correctly, shoots 40/50

* Lead Up – 2nd Range = wrong elevation, shoots 45/50

* Lead Up – 3rd Range = wrong elevation, well he actually set it correctly but after two bad ranges he rechecks his elevation and set it again, starts with a miss.

* Queens – 2nd day, leaves shooting gear in hotel room

* Queens – 3rd day, wrong elevation – starts with a miss.

Hornsby March 2008 (3 nominations)

* Leaves rifle bolt, cheek piece and buttplate at home

Malabar March 2008 (1 nomination)

* Fired a shot with no bang ! Discovered he had no primer in the cartridge (he advises nephew Mike Ashton quietly who immediately told the pirate !)

To win the FISH AWARD is no mean feat, but to win it before the years out is just outstanding, obviously Rick has been in serious training since his recent retirement.

T SHIRTS

Our Pirate T Shirt order has arrived and members have been swashbuckling around on the range in them. For those members who haven't already got a shirt contact Angus Bell.
